Museum Educator & Outreach Coordinator (Part-Time)
The National Electronics Museum is seeking a Part-Time Museum Educator. This role brings the world of
electronics to life for visitors of all ages by leading tours and creating and conducting educational programs.
This position works directly with teachers, various groups and clubs, and museum volunteers.
Responsibilities:
● Develop and deliver engaging educational programs:
– Lead and create workshops, tour content, and other interactive experiences for diverse
audiences.
– This may occasionally include some offsite programs at schools, STE(A)M-related youth
organizations, and festivals.
– Be responsible for the entire workshop lifecycle from maintaining and updating the curriculum to
delivering instruction and demonstrations on various topics including electronics,
electromagnetic waves, and transistors. Sample workshop content can be found at:

– Maintain workshop materials and inventory.
● Manage museum education logistics:
– Track online tour registrations, ensure docent availability, and correspond with groups
requesting modified tours or content.
– Schedule group tours, and coordinate with docents and group leaders.
– Maintain existing contacts and build new ones for tours and workshops.
● Event Coordinatation:
– Assist with planning special events by working with event sponsors and support staff.
● Support museum operations:
– Assist with artifact and hands-on exhibit development.
– Assist with tour scripting and content.
– Coordinate with and contribute to our social media resources.
● Collaborate with museum staff:
– Work with the Director, Staff Members, Volunteers, and the Board of Directors on various
projects and initiatives.
– Assist with the recruiting, training, and managing of docents.
– Collaborate with other museums to share resources, plan joint events and tours, and maximize
outreach efforts.
● Contribute to museum growth:
– Assist with grant writing and reporting, and participate in staff meetings and educational
planning sessions.
Qualifications:
● Education: Bachelor’s Degree (in education or a related field), or Equivalent Experience.
● Experience: Teaching and education experience a plus.
● Desired Skills:
○ Strong and enthusiastic interest in science, technology, and education.
○ Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with people of all ages.
○ Ability to communicate with and accommodate groups and individuals of diverse backgrounds
education levels, and needs.
○ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
○ Strong organizational and time-management skills.
○ Proficiency in using computers and relevant software
■ Required: Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace Suite
■ Desired: PastPerfect, CRM, Airtable, Adobe, Square, WordPress
Availability:
– 30 hours a week. Monday through Friday.
– Occasionally Saturdays and Weeknights.
– Flexibility based on events and tour schedule.
– Remote options when available.
– As of now, prescheduled tours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 am.
– Museum Offices are generally open from 8 am to 6 pm with security card access.
Compensation: $22 – $30 per hour, Hourly
Benefits: Paid holidays, sick leave, health insurance, and 401k available.
